Get school ready!

Summer is slowly coming to an end and before we realize school would have started. Some can’t wait to go back to school and some just wish summer could last forever. Whether you are one or the other, here are some tips to get you ready for the upcoming school year.

Set your alarm a little earlier

School season is around the corner, which means you’ll have to wake up early as you do now. Start setting your alarm a little earlier each week. Instead of waking up at noon, try to wake up an hour before. And so on. By doing this you’ll get used to waking up early again.

Delete old computer files

Why have some files, you don’t even need anymore? Delete them all.

Write down goals for the semester

Write them down and try to achieve them during the semester. Those goals don’t have to be school related, but just things you want to achieve. For example; get good grades, meet new people, join some clubs and others.

Make a list of thing you want/have to do before school season starts

Mine are:

  • Write at least 15 posts before moving to campus (I’ll move in 2 weeks, wish me luck).
  • Go dorm shopping.
  • Learn how to cook.
  • Spend some quality time with family and friends.

Just write down the things you want to do and try to do them. By writing them down you’ll get organized and it you won’t have an excuse to forget them anymore.  I also wrote a Last Minute Summer Bucket-List. Be sure to check it out!

If you already have your textbooks, take a look at them.

I know what you’re thinking. Why should you look through your textbooks if school hasn’t begun yet? Well, it is better to go to a class and have an idea of the school material you’ll be using and of the things you’ll be learning about throughout the year, than showing up to class without no clue about anything.  I never did this and I was always so lo

st in the first class. Every year I would promise myself to go through my textbooks before starting class but guess what? I never did. Guys, don’t be like me.

Buy school supplies.

I  LOVE  to buy school supplies, but school supplies can add up really fast and it can end up being really pricey sometimes. So, make a list of what you’ll need for the school year, and check if you already have some things at home. Not everything has to be new.

Get a planner

Yes, you read right. Get a planner! School life can get busy, you may end up having more homework than last school year. And you’ll have more things to do if you belong to some club. You might be telling yourself, you can remember all of those events, tasks, essays, etc. Let me tell you, you won’t, you may remember some of those things, but you’ll certainly forget most of them. So, trust me, get a planner and actually use it.

Great tips! Love how you recommend a planner-with technology today I think planners are an overlooked tool for success! Thanks!

  • pnkgirl25

It’s interesting that moms also need to get ready for children’s school. Every year.

  • This is a really concise list. I especially love the point about a planner. I finished school 10+ years ago, but I haven’t thought to properly get and use a planner for my every day life. I end up just using my iPhone notes app or random scraps of paper!

Thank you! I love using planners, they’re life saviors.

  • I’m learning a new skill, and it feels like I am going back to school all over again. It’s been a long time since I have graduated from school.

  • Nicole Day

I definitely need to follow your first tip and start setting the alarm earlier! We’ve been sleeping in this summer to 9 am every day. I’m normally up by 5 am. I will be so sad in September!

    • sofiasolisb

It is really helpful! I’ve been doing that for years! And I’ll so so sad too 😭

  • Sarah Jane Divis

I love your ideas!!! I’m heading to school soon, and I definitely want to write down my goals!

  • First of all, I really like the font that you use for your sub-headings! So cool. And I remember that making sure I was organized physically with all of my books and agendas and everything was super important when I was in school but also that I was mentally prepared to go back. It can be tough to focus again after having fun in the summer! 🙂

    • sofiasolisb

Thank you! You can get it in google fonts I think. Being mentally prepared is super important as well.

It really feels like this summer has flown by! I can’t believe school is back in session. These are some great tips to help us out. Thank you!

    • sofiasolisb

That’s so true! Time flies , I can’t believe it either.

  • Yes! I love posts like this that motivate me to try and get organised. They even work when your not going back to school too! I’m starting a new job soon and could definitely use some of these tips!

    • sofiasolisb

I’m glad you will and I hope they help!

  • Stefanie Stiller

That are some great tips!!! I also love making lists and have an overview how much is still to do!!! Good luck with your school start 🙂

Great idea and tip. I usually have my friend as alarm clock but because he is leaving to get a job somewhere, then I’ll probably have to get one alarm clock of my own. Thanks for sharing and good luck on that 15 posts 🙂

  • The Gypsy Gurl

Great post… I guess the kids need to see this for sure 😊

  • Shell

Great tips for kiddos heading back to school 🙂

  • I will print this out for my teenage daughters. They will have a big enough struggle trying to get back on a “NORMAL” sleep schedule.

  • I totally agree with reading through textbooks prior to class. I use to do it when I was in school. I was ahead a good bit of the time.

  • Margarette Puno

These are such great tips for everyone. I do agree getting ready ahead of time is a good thing to do. I always say this to my son and siblings.
